After builders cleaning in Enfield – Fine dust removed - Cleaning Enfield

After Builders Cleaning in Enfield (EN)

The builders have packed up, but there’s a grey film on every skirting board and the new kitchen still smells of plaster. Our after builders cleaning in Enfield gets renovated homes, extensions, flats and fitted-out commercial units across EN ready to live in, let or open, with fine dust properly removed. Send us a few photos and a list of the work that was done, and we’ll come back with a free quote.

Why renovation dust needs more than a quick vacuum

Plaster, sanding and cutting dust is far finer than everyday household dust. A standard vacuum blows much of it back into the air through the exhaust, and it settles again on surfaces you’ve already wiped.

Our post renovation cleaning works differently:

  • Top to bottom, every time. We start at coving and door frames and finish with the floors, so nothing falls onto a clean surface.
  • Vacuum first, then wipe. Wiping dry plaster dust with a wet cloth turns it into a paste that smears across matt paint and streaks glass. We lift it with HEPA-filtered vacuums and brush attachments first.
  • Several passes with clean microfibre. One wipe rarely removes everything. We rinse cloths and change water often, because cloudy water just puts the dust back.
  • The places dust hides. Tops of doors, radiator fins, window tracks, cupboard hinges, extractor grilles and drawer runners all collect it.

What our after builders cleaning checklist covers

We agree the checklist before we start, based on the rooms that were worked on and the finishes involved. A typical construction clean-up includes:

Throughout the property

  • Coving, picture rails, light fittings and the tops of door frames, where they can be reached safely
  • Walls dusted, with skirting boards, sockets and switches wiped
  • Radiators, including between the fins where they’re reachable
  • Doors, handles, hinges and frames
  • Interior glass, window frames, sills and runner tracks
  • Protective film, stickers and labels removed from glass, frames and fittings
  • Paint spots and light plaster splashes removed from glass and hard floors where it’s safe to do so
  • Hard floors vacuumed and washed, with attention to grout lines and edges
  • Carpets vacuumed thoroughly with a HEPA machine

Kitchens

  • Inside and outside of new cupboards and drawers, including the runners
  • Worktops cleaned to suit the material, whether laminate, quartz, wood or stone
  • Sinks, taps, splashbacks and the extractor hood exterior and filters
  • New appliances wiped inside and out, with protective film removed

Bathrooms

  • Grout haze and tile adhesive residue lifted from new tiling
  • Sanitaryware, taps, shower screens and trays cleaned and polished
  • Manufacturer labels and sticker residue removed

Shops, offices and commercial fit-outs

  • Shop floors, counters, display units and changing rooms ready for stock
  • Office desks, partitions, kitchenettes and washrooms after a refit
  • Entrance glass and frontage glazing on the inside

Extras, limits and jobs that need a different trade

A few things sit outside a standard builders clean and are quoted separately:

  • Carpets with ground-in dust. Vacuuming lifts a lot, but plaster dust trodden deep into the pile often needs professional carpet cleaning once the dust has settled.
  • External windows and high-level work. Upper-floor outside glass, skylights and double-height ceilings need the right access equipment.
  • Builders’ waste. We don’t remove rubble, offcuts, skips or bulky packaging. Ask your contractor to clear these before we arrive.

Sometimes cleaning isn’t the answer at all. If we suspect asbestos, lead paint dust or other hazardous material, we’ll stop and recommend a specialist. Damp patches and mould coming through new plaster point to a building issue for your builder or surveyor. Scratched glass, etched stone or cement soaked into porous tiles can’t always be reversed. We’ll test where it’s sensible and tell you honestly what’s achievable.

How a builders clean is organised

  1. Tell us about the job. Let us know what work was done, which rooms were involved, the floor types and when the trades finish. Photos help a lot.
  2. We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll know the scope, price and any extras before we start.
  3. Pick the right date. Book after the last trade has finished, including decorators, electricians and the second-fix carpenter. If a plasterer comes back after we’ve cleaned, the dust comes back with them.
  4. Sort access. Keys, lockbox codes, alarm details and parking are agreed in advance.
  5. We clean top to bottom. We bring vacuums, microfibre, scrapers, steps and products suited to your surfaces.
  6. Final check. We go through the agreed list before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.

What to have ready before we arrive

  • Rubble, tools and offcuts cleared by the builders
  • Water and electricity connected and working
  • A note of delicate finishes, such as oiled oak, marble, limestone, lacquered units or fresh matt paint
  • Your snagging list kept separate, since chipped paint and loose fittings are for your builder

How long does a post renovation clean take?

It depends on how much work was done. A refitted bathroom might take part of a day. A full house renovation or a large rear extension can take a team a full day or longer.

Fine dust keeps settling for a day or two after the work stops. On bigger jobs, many customers book a short follow-up dust once the air has cleared. We’ll suggest one if we think you’ll need it.

What changes the price of after builders cleaning

Every renovation is different, so we quote each job individually. The main factors are:

  • The size of the property and how many rooms were affected
  • How dusty it is, since sanded floors and knocked-through walls create far more dust than a kitchen swap
  • How much paint, plaster and adhesive residue needs removing
  • Floor types and delicate finishes that need slower methods
  • High ceilings, stairwells and awkward access
  • Parking and how easy it is to get equipment in
  • Whether you want a follow-up visit or extras such as carpet cleaning

You can see how we approach costs on our pricing page. Whatever we quote is agreed upfront before any work begins.

Working in homes and live business premises

Living in during the work. We can clean finished rooms while work carries on elsewhere, but dust travels under doors. Keep doors closed and dust sheets down, and plan a final clean once everything is done.

Before the furniture goes back. An empty room is quicker and more thorough to clean. If you can, book us before sofas, beds and rugs return.

Pets and allergies. Keep pets out of the way while we work. Tell us about allergies or product preferences, and we can use eco-friendly options where they suit the surface.

Shops and offices. For a retail or office fit-out in Enfield, we’ll try to schedule around your handover and opening date. Evening or early slots depend on availability, so get in touch early.

Parking. Parking can be tight on some residential streets around Enfield. Let us know about driveways, permit bays or loading restrictions so we can plan.

Protecting your new finishes

New surfaces are the most expensive thing in the room, so we treat them carefully:

  • The right product for the surface. No acidic cleaners on marble, limestone or travertine, and nothing abrasive on gloss units or brushed steel.
  • Test patches first. We check new grout, painted woodwork and unfamiliar finishes in a hidden spot before cleaning the whole area.
  • Fresh paint stays gentle. New emulsion can take a while to cure fully, so we dust and spot-clean lightly rather than scrubbing.
  • Scrapers on glass only. We use fresh blades held at a low angle, and never on coated or tinted glass without checking first.
  • Separate cloths. Kitchen and bathroom cloths are kept apart and colour-coded.
  • Ready for use. Worktops and food areas are rinsed so they’re safe to prepare food on.

What customers say after their renovation

“We’d had the whole ground floor knocked through and everything was coated. Two cleaners spent the day on it and even the tops of the kitchen cupboards were done. They suggested a quick second visit a few days later, which was worth it.” Hannah K., Bush Hill Park, after builders cleaning

“Loft conversion finished on a Friday and we wanted to move the kids up there that weekend. Paint dots off the Velux glass, stairs spotless, carpet hoovered properly. Keys were left with our neighbour and it all went smoothly.” Marcus O., Gordon Hill, post renovation clean

“Needed our shop cleaned after the refit before stock arrived. They did it in the evening so the shopfitters could finish during the day. Counters, shelves and the floor were all ready on time.” Deniz A., Enfield Lock, commercial builders clean

After builders cleaning FAQs

Do you bring your own equipment?

Yes. We bring HEPA-filtered vacuums, microfibre cloths, scrapers, steps and products suited to your surfaces. Let us know beforehand if you’d prefer we use particular products.

Can you clean while the builders are still on site?

Usually it’s better not to. Trades working around us will create fresh dust. If you need a room ready for a deadline, we can clean finished areas and come back for the rest.

Can you remove paint splashes and cement?

Usually, from glass, tiles and sealed hard floors, as long as it’s safe for the surface. Cement or paint that has soaked into porous stone, unsealed grout or carpet may not come out fully, and we’ll tell you before we try.

Do you take away builders’ rubbish?

No. Rubble, offcuts and skips are for your contractor or a waste carrier. We’ll take away the dust and debris from cleaning.

Is a builders clean the same as a deep clean?

No. A builders clean focuses on construction dust and residue across every surface. A deep clean targets built-up everyday grime, such as grease and limescale. Some customers need elements of both, and we can combine them in one quote.

Do you cover the whole area?

Yes. We cover homes and businesses throughout Enfield and across EN postcodes. Tell us your postcode when you enquire.
