Disinfection cleaning service in Enfield – homes and offices - Cleaning Enfield

Disinfection Cleaning Service in Enfield (EN)

When a stomach bug has run through the house or half the office has been off with flu, an ordinary tidy-up doesn’t feel like enough. Our disinfection cleaning service in Enfield cleans and then disinfects the handles, taps, switches, keyboards and other surfaces people touch all day. We work in homes, offices, shops and shared spaces across EN.

Tell us what’s happened, the rooms involved and when you need us. We’ll come back with an agreed scope and a free quote. Call 020 4634 5302 or send your details for a quote.

Why we always clean before we disinfect

Disinfectant can’t work properly through grease, dust, toothpaste splashes or a film of soap scum. If you spray it over a grubby surface, it treats the dirt rather than the surface underneath. So every visit starts with a proper clean, and only then do we apply a disinfectant to the touchpoints.

The second step is contact time. Most disinfectants need the surface to stay wet for a set period, often several minutes, before they do what the label says. A quick spray and an instant wipe skips that. We follow the contact time on each product. Because of that, a thorough disinfection visit takes longer than a regular clean of the same rooms.

What a touchpoint disinfection visit covers

We agree the checklist with you first. These are the areas we usually focus on.

In homes

  • Door handles, push plates, light switches and banister rails
  • Kitchen worktops, tap handles, fridge and freezer handles, kettle and microwave buttons
  • Bathroom taps, flush handles, toilet seats, hinges and the base of the pan
  • Remote controls, phones, tablets and game controllers, cleaned with suitable wipes rather than sprays
  • Bin lids, pedal bins and the cupboard handles nearest the sink
  • High chairs, cot rails and hard-surface toys, with a rinse where children will mouth them

In offices, shops and shared spaces

  • Desks, keyboards, mice, phones and chair arms
  • Kitchenette worktops, kettle and microwave, the fridge handle and the shared coffee machine
  • Washroom taps, flush plates, hand dryers, soap dispensers and cubicle locks
  • Entrance door pulls, lift buttons, stair rails and the fingerprint-heavy glass on communal doors
  • Shop counters, card machines (wiped, never wet), basket handles and changing room hooks

A one-off disinfection visit is different from routine cleaning. If you’d also like floors mopped through, skirting boards done and limescale tackled, we can add that or book a deep clean alongside it. For workplaces that want touchpoints done every visit, we build it into regular office cleaning.

Antiviral fogging or manual disinfection: which do you need?

For most homes and offices in Enfield, manual disinfection is the better choice. A cloth applied to a cleaned handle, with the right contact time, reaches the places hands actually go.

Fogging spreads a fine mist of disinfectant across a room. It can help in large open areas with lots of hard surfaces, but it has real limits:

  • It doesn’t clean. Surfaces still need wiping first.
  • The room has to be empty of people and pets during treatment, then ventilated before anyone comes back in.
  • Electronics, paperwork, soft furnishings and some finishes need covering or moving.
  • Coverage underneath and behind things is patchy.

If fogging suits your space, we’ll talk it through and quote it separately. We won’t recommend it just because it sounds more thorough.

Products we use for sanitisation

We bring our own supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. For disinfection we choose products by what their labels state they’ve been tested against. Where antiviral cleaning is the aim, we use a product carrying a virucidal claim. We check that the product suits each surface before we apply it.

  • Natural stone, unsealed wood and some plastics can be damaged by harsher disinfectants, so we pick a gentler option or patch-test first.
  • Food-contact surfaces such as chopping boards, worktops and high chair trays get a clean-water rinse where the label requires it.
  • Electronics get barely-damp wipes, never sprays.
  • Separate cloths are kept for bathrooms, kitchens and general areas, so nothing goes from the toilet to the worktop.

Tell us before the visit about allergies, asthma, pets or products you’d rather we avoided. We offer eco-friendly products on request, but some plant-based cleaners clean well without being disinfectants, so we’ll explain the trade-off honestly.

What isn’t included, and when you need a different specialist

Disinfection reduces germs on surfaces. It doesn’t make a room sterile. It can’t stop someone who’s still ill passing something on, and it doesn’t replace handwashing.

Some jobs need separate agreement or a different trade altogether:

  • Large spills of blood or bodily fluids, sharps or needles. These need a specialist biohazard service. Small domestic accidents, such as a child being sick on a hard floor, are a different matter. Mention them when you book.
  • Black mould from damp, leaks or poor ventilation. We can clean surface mould from tiles and sealant, but if the cause is structural it’ll come back until the damp is fixed.
  • Pest droppings or infestations. Pest control comes first, then cleaning.
  • Soft furnishings and carpets. Disinfectant on a sofa isn’t the same as a proper clean. We quote upholstery and carpet work separately.
  • Clinical or regulated settings with their own infection-control protocols. We’ll tell you plainly if a job is outside what we do.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you need. Send the property type, the rooms, and whether someone has been unwell or you simply want touchpoints done regularly. Photos help.
  2. Agree the checklist and quote. We confirm the tasks, products, timing and price before anything starts. Larger commercial sites may need a quick walkthrough.
  3. Sort access. We arrange keys, alarm codes, parking and arrival times in advance.
  4. We clean, then disinfect. Surfaces are cleaned, disinfected with proper contact time, and rinsed where needed.
  5. Final check. We go back through the agreed list before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, let us know promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.

Your part is small. Clear worktops and desks where you can, put away valuables and paperwork, and let us know which rooms are off limits.

What changes the price

Every quote is agreed upfront and depends on:

  • the number of rooms, desks or washrooms
  • how much cleaning is needed before disinfecting
  • one-off or recurring visits
  • whether manual disinfection, fogging or both is right
  • out-of-hours timing, access, stairs and parking

See our pricing page for how we put quotes together.

Things to tell us before we arrive

  • Is anyone still unwell at home? We can work around a closed bedroom and come back to it later if needed.
  • Pets. Cats walk on worktops, and some products aren’t safe for them until dry. We’ll keep pets out of treated rooms until surfaces are safe.
  • Keys and alarms. Key handover with a neighbour, a lockbox or a staff member is fine, as long as we agree it in advance.
  • Parking. Plenty of streets around Enfield have permit bays or limited spaces. A quick note saves time on the day.
  • Business hours. We schedule commercial visits around opening times where we can, often before staff arrive or after the shutters come down. Short-notice slots depend on availability.

A disinfection cleaning checklist for between visits

If someone in the house is poorly, these five steps do the most good:

  1. Clean handles, taps and flush handles first, then disinfect them once a day.
  2. Use one cloth for the bathroom only, and wash it hot afterwards.
  3. Keep the unwell person’s towels and cups separate.
  4. Give the disinfectant its full contact time before you wipe it off.
  5. Open a window while you clean and while surfaces dry.

What customers say

“Both kids had a sickness bug one after the other and I couldn’t face the bathroom. They cleaned everything properly first, then went round every handle and tap. The high chair was rinsed afterwards too, which I wouldn’t have thought of.” Hannah R., Bush Hill Park, home disinfection clean

“We now have touchpoints done on every weekly visit at our office. Keyboards, the kitchenette and the door pulls. Fewer people off this winter, although obviously that’s not all down to cleaning.” Daniel O., Brimsdown, office touchpoint disinfection

“I asked about fogging and they talked me out of it for a two-bed flat. Manual clean, done properly, and they were careful with my marble kitchen top.” Joanne M., Cheshunt, one-off sanitisation clean

Disinfection cleaning FAQs

Do you disinfect homes as well as offices?

Yes. We cover houses and flats as well as offices, shops, gyms and communal areas across EN.

Will a disinfection clean kill every virus?

No cleaning can promise that. We use products with tested claims, apply them to cleaned surfaces and follow contact times. That reduces germs on those surfaces, but it isn’t a sterile result.

How long does it take?

It depends on the space. Expect longer than a routine clean of the same rooms, because each disinfected surface has to stay wet for the product’s contact time.

Can I stay at home during the visit?

Usually, yes, for manual disinfection. For fogging, everyone, including pets, needs to be out until the room has been treated and aired.

Is it safe for children and pets afterwards?

Yes, once surfaces are dry, and food-contact items are rinsed where the label requires it. We’ll tell you if any room needs extra time.

Can you add disinfection to my regular clean?

Yes. We can add touchpoints to your agreed priorities list on every visit or on alternate visits.

Do you deal with mould?

Surface mould on tiles and sealant, yes. If damp is coming from a leak or poor ventilation, you’ll need that fixed first or the mould will return.
