School Cleaning in Enfield (EN)
Schools get dirty in ways offices never do. There’s glue on the tables, mud from the playground and washrooms used by hundreds of children before lunch. Our school cleaning in Enfield covers primaries, secondaries, nurseries and independent schools across EN. Our cleaners work to a checklist built around your site, your timetable and your safeguarding rules.
Call or email with a rough idea of the site and the hours you need. We’ll arrange a walkthrough and a free, no-obligation quote.
What we clean in classrooms, corridors and washrooms
Daily and weekly visits focus on the areas pupils use hardest. We agree the priorities list with your business manager or site manager, so the busiest rooms get the most time.
Classrooms and learning spaces
- Desks and chairs wiped down, including the undersides of table edges where gum and pencil marks build up
- Door handles, light switches, tray units and coat hooks wiped
- Interactive boards and screens dusted with a dry or barely damp microfibre cloth. We never spray directly onto the glass.
- Carpets vacuumed, with extra attention to the reading corner and the area around the sink
- Hard floors swept and mopped, with wet floor signs out until they’re dry
- Bins emptied and liners replaced, including sanitary bins in staff areas if agreed
- Art and science room sinks cleaned of paint, clay and glue residue
Corridors, halls and entrances
- Entrance mats vacuumed and the floor inside the door mopped, because that’s where the playground comes in on wet days
- Fingerprints taken off glass doors, vision panels and reception screens
- Stair treads, handrails and bannisters wiped
- Hall floors cleaned after lunch sittings or PE. For sports floors we follow the floor maker’s guidance, because the wrong product can leave a sprung or sealed floor slippery.
Washroom hygiene
Washrooms are the part of a school that parents and inspectors notice first. We clean toilets, urinals and low-level sinks, as well as the tiled splash zones behind them. We also descale taps and spouts and mop around pedestals, where odour usually starts.
We refill soap, paper towels and toilet rolls from your stock or ours, whichever we’ve agreed. Washroom cloths and mops are colour-coded and kept separate from kitchen and classroom equipment.
Staff rooms and offices
We clean the staff room kitchenette, wipe the outside of the fridge and microwave, and clear the sink. We also tidy around reception and dust and vacuum the offices. We don’t move papers on desks or touch anything marked confidential.
Term time and holiday deep cleans
Term-time visits keep the school clean and safe from day to day. School holidays are the time for the jobs that need empty rooms. A holiday deep clean usually includes:
- Moving classroom furniture to clean skirting boards and floor edges
- High-level dusting of ledges, display boards and light fittings, where we can safely reach them
- Washroom descaling, grout scrubbing and partition cleaning
- Cupboard interiors, once staff have emptied them
- Internal glass, window sills and radiator covers
- A deep clean of the kitchen and dining hall, agreed with your catering team
Carpets need planning. A carpet cleaning visit leaves carpets damp for several hours, so we book extraction early in the break. That gives them time to dry before furniture goes back and before staff return for INSET days.
The summer holiday is the busiest time for school deep cleans in Enfield. Booking before the end of the summer term gives you the widest choice of dates.
Canteen and kitchen hygiene
Your catering team’s food safety system comes first, and we work around it. We clean dining tables and benches between or after sittings, and we take care of the dining hall floor, servery fronts, wall tiles and the outside of appliances. Food-contact surfaces during service stay with the kitchen staff unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Holiday kitchen cleans go further: behind and under movable equipment, wall-mounted fittings, sinks and drainers. Extraction canopies, filters inside ductwork and commercial oven servicing are specialist jobs, so we’ll point you to the right trade. Cleaning supports good hygiene, but it can’t decide a food hygiene rating. That depends on your whole kitchen operation.
Safe products and school cleaning risk assessments
Before we start, we put together a site-specific risk assessment. It covers the products we’ll use, wet floors, lone working, stairs and any areas with restricted access. We share safety data sheets for every product on site, so your COSHH file stays up to date.
Here’s how we handle products in a building full of children:
- Trolleys and product stores are kept locked, and products are never left unattended in a corridor
- We never decant products into unlabelled bottles
- We use the dilution and contact time on the label, rather than adding more for luck
- Tables and washroom surfaces are rinsed where the label asks, so they’re ready for children the next morning
- Fragrance-free and eco-friendly options are available on request. We check each one suits the surface before we use it.
If you need extra attention on touch points during an illness outbreak, we can quote for disinfection cleaning. It reduces germs on treated surfaces, but no clean can promise a sterile building.
Extras, limits and when cleaning isn’t the answer
These need separate agreement and a separate quote:
- Carpet and upholstery extraction
- External windows and anything above safe ladder height
- Removing graffiti, old gum or sticker residue from outside areas
- One-off cleans after building work, lettings or events
Some problems aren’t cleaning jobs. Black mould from a leak will come back until the leak is fixed. Damaged vinyl or worn varnish won’t look new however well it’s cleaned. If we spot anything that might be damaged asbestos-containing material, we leave it alone and report it to the site manager straight away. We do the same with sharps or anything that looks unsafe.
For bodily fluid spills, we follow your school’s procedure and use the spill kit you specify.
How school cleaning works with us
- Tell us about the site. Let us know the number of buildings and classrooms, roughly how many washrooms there are and the hours you’d like cleaning done.
- Walkthrough. We look at floor types, the cleaning store, alarm zones, gates and any areas pupils use outside school hours.
- Checklist and quote. We agree room-by-room tasks, the frequency, the price and the risk assessment before work begins.
- Access and safeguarding. We agree key or fob handling, alarm codes, sign-in and sign-out, who our cleaners report to and which areas are off-limits during the day.
- Cleaning and checks. Our cleaners work through the agreed list and check it at the end of each shift. We note any issues, like a blocked toilet or a broken tap, in your site log or by email.
- Feedback. If something in scope has been missed, tell us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right.
What changes the price of school cleaning
Every school is laid out differently, so we price from the walkthrough. The main factors are:
- The size of the site and the number of classrooms, washrooms and halls
- Floor types, and whether any need specialist care
- How often we clean, from daily evening cleans to weekly or holiday-only
- The hours available, especially if we have to work around lettings or clubs
- Condition, and any one-off deep clean tasks
- Whether we supply consumables such as soap and paper
You can read more on our pricing page. Your price is agreed upfront before we start.
Working on a live school site
Schools run on routines, and our cleaners respect them:
- Lettings and clubs. Breakfast club, after-school clubs and evening hall hire all move the cleaning window. Tell us about them and we’ll plan around them.
- Morning dry floors. We mop halls and corridors early enough that they’re dry before the gates open.
- Displays and pupils’ work. We dust around displays and don’t take anything down. Drawings drying on a rack stay where they are.
- Class pets and plants. We clean around them and don’t move cages or feed animals.
- Gates and parking. We agree locking-up times and where our cleaners can park, so we’re never blocking the caretaker’s van or a delivery.
What school staff say
“The hall floor used to be slippery for an hour after mopping, which was a worry before morning assembly. They checked what the floor was sealed with, changed the product and now it’s dry by the time the first children are in.” Rebecca T., Bush Hill Park, school cleaning
“We booked a summer deep clean with carpets. They did the carpets in the first week, so everything was dry and the furniture was back before INSET. Cupboard tops had clearly been done too, which nobody had touched in years.” Daniel O., Enfield Lock, holiday deep clean
“We have a couple of children with asthma, so we asked for fragrance-free products in the toddler room. No fuss at all. The cleaners always sign in and leave a note in the book if anything needs fixing.” Ayesha K., Ponders End, nursery cleaning
School cleaning FAQs
Can you clean during the school day?
Usually we clean before school starts or after it ends, when buildings are empty. Daytime washroom checks are possible by agreement, within your safeguarding arrangements and in the zones you approve.
Do you bring the products and equipment?
Yes. We bring products, mops, vacuums and colour-coded cloths unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Your product stock can be used instead if your school has a procurement contract.
Are your products safe around children?
We choose products suitable for occupied buildings, store them securely and use them as the label directs. Surfaces are rinsed or left dry where needed. Tell us about allergies or sensitivities and we’ll agree suitable alternatives.
Can you provide a risk assessment and safety data sheets?
Yes. Every site gets its own risk assessment, plus safety data sheets for the products we use, before our first clean.
What checks do your cleaners have?
Our cleaners are vetted and insured. Send us your safeguarding requirements and we’ll confirm what we can meet before anyone starts on site. You can also see our insurance details.
Do you offer holiday-only deep cleans?
Yes. Plenty of schools in Enfield book us only for Easter, summer or Christmas breaks, either alongside an in-house team or between contracts.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover schools, academies and nurseries across EN postcodes, from Enfield Town out to Enfield Lock, Ponders End and Bush Hill Park. If you’re near the edge of our area, just ask.
