Cleaning Insurance in Enfield: How We Protect Your Home and Premises
Every Cleaning Enfield cleaner is vetted and insured, and we’ll show you our cleaning insurance details before work starts if you ask. This page explains what that means in practice: what public liability cover is for, how we choose who comes into your home or business, how we handle products and fragile surfaces, and what happens if something goes wrong.
It’s written for homeowners in Enfield Town and Bush Hill Park, landlords handing over keys in Ponders End, and facilities managers in Brimsdown who need the paperwork in order before signing a contract.
What Our Cleaning Insurance Is There For
Public liability cover protects you if our work causes accidental damage to your property or injury to someone on your premises. A dropped mirror, a scratched worktop from the wrong pad, or water getting under a laminate floor: these are the situations insurance exists for.
It’s a safety net, not a substitute for careful work. We don’t plan on making claims. We plan our cleans so the risk of damage stays low in the first place.
What insurance doesn’t cover
There are a few things no cleaning insurer will treat as our damage:
- Existing wear and tear. Cleaning won’t fix a cracked tile, a worn carpet or etching on a marble worktop, and it won’t count as damage caused by us.
- Items that were already loose, broken or unstable. A shelf hanging by one screw or a cracked vase may fail when it’s touched.
- Results cleaning can’t achieve. Old stains, heat marks and limescale that has pitted chrome may not come out. Your cover only applies to damage, not to a disappointing result.
If we spot something already damaged when we arrive, we’ll point it out or photograph it before we start. That protects you and us.
Proof of Insurance on Request
Ask, and we’ll send you our insurance details. Landlords, letting agents, managing agents and commercial clients often need this on file before a first visit, and it’s a sensible question for homeowners too.
Tell us what you need when you enquire:
- A copy of our current certificate for your records
- Confirmation that cover is in place for the dates of the job
- Details your building management or landlord has asked for, such as for communal areas in a block of flats
We’ll answer what we can directly. If your contract or building has specific insurance requirements, send them to us before you book so we can check them properly. We won’t agree to cover terms we can’t meet.

Who We Send: Employee Vetting in Enfield
You’re handing over keys, alarm codes and access to your home or workplace. We take the question of who walks through the door seriously.
Every cleaner we send is vetted before they work for us. We look at who they are, whether they’re entitled to work, and how they’ve worked before. Ask us what our vetting involves and we’ll explain it plainly.
Vetting is only the start. We also brief cleaners on each job:
- The agreed task list and the priorities for the visit
- Access arrangements, key handling and alarm instructions
- Notes on pets, allergies, delicate surfaces and rooms to avoid
- Who to contact if something isn’t as expected on arrival
If you’d prefer the same cleaner on a recurring visit, tell us. We’ll try to keep it consistent, and we’ll let you know in advance if someone different is coming.
Safe Handling: Products, Equipment and Delicate Surfaces
Most cleaning damage is avoidable. It usually comes from the wrong product on the wrong surface, so this is where we put our attention.
Products. We bring our own cleaning supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. We store and use them according to manufacturer instructions, keep them out of reach of children and pets during the visit, and never mix chemicals. Eco-friendly products are available on request, and we check each one is suitable for the surface.
Surfaces that need care. Some materials react badly to everyday cleaners:
- Natural stone such as marble and limestone, which acidic descalers can etch
- Oiled or waxed wooden floors and worktops, which don’t tolerate soaking
- Brushed or coated stainless steel, which abrasive pads scratch
- Antique furniture, gilded frames and hand-painted finishes
- Specialist shower screen coatings and unsealed grout
Tell us about anything like this before the visit. If we aren’t sure what a surface is or how it’ll react, we test a hidden area or leave it and ask you.
Equipment and working at height. We use stable steps for reachable high-level work and don’t stand on furniture. High-level cleaning beyond normal reach and external windows are quoted separately, so we can plan them with the right kit rather than improvising on the day.
Damage and Breakage Policy: What Happens If Something Goes Wrong
Accidents are rare, but you should know how we handle them before you need to.
- We tell you. If a cleaner breaks or damages something, they report it straight away. We won’t leave you to find it yourself.
- You tell us promptly. If you notice damage after a visit, contact us as soon as possible with photos and a short description. Quick reports are easier to look into.
- We look at what happened. We’ll talk to the cleaner, review the photos, and check what was agreed for the job.
- We agree the next step with you. That might be a repair, a replacement, or a claim through our insurer where that’s appropriate. We’ll explain the process and keep you updated.
Please don’t throw away broken items or arrange repairs before talking to us. We may need to see the damage.
Compliance Documents for Commercial Cleaning Contracts
Offices, shops, gyms, schools and warehouses often need more than an insurance certificate. Facilities managers on the industrial estates around Brimsdown and Enfield Lock, and retailers along the Great Cambridge Road, regularly ask for paperwork before a contract starts.
Where a contract calls for them, we’ll work with you on:
- Risk assessments for your premises, covering slips, lone working, out-of-hours access and any site hazards
- Method statements setting out how we’ll carry out specific tasks, such as floor care in a busy reception or cleaning around stock in a warehouse
- Product information for the chemicals we’ll use on site, so they can be checked against your own records
- Site induction notes for any rules on your premises: sign-in, alarm setting, restricted areas, waste points
Tell us what your procurement or health and safety team needs at the quoting stage. Commercial work often needs a walkthrough first, and that visit gives us what we need to prepare site-specific documents rather than generic ones. Our office cleaning page covers how we fit visits around your opening hours.
If you manage several properties or sites, our partnerships page explains how we handle checklists, access and reporting for landlords, agents and businesses.
What to Tell Us Before the First Visit
The more we know upfront, the less can go wrong. When you book, let us know about:
- Fragile, valuable or sentimental items, and whether you’d prefer us not to touch them
- Natural stone, specialist flooring or finishes with care instructions
- Pets, and whether they’ll be home, shut in a room, or out
- Allergies, sensitivities, or products you’d like us to use or avoid
- Alarm codes, key safes, concierge or neighbour key handover
- Parking restrictions or permit zones near the property
- Existing damage you already know about
- Building rules for communal areas, lifts or bin stores
We agree access, key handling and arrival arrangements in advance, and confirm the scope and price before any work starts.
Questions About Cleaning Insurance and Vetting
Are your cleaners insured to work in my home? Yes. Our cleaners are covered by our insurance while they’re working for us, and we can send proof on request.
Can I see your insurance certificate before booking? Yes. Ask when you enquire and we’ll send the details. If your landlord or building manager needs specific information, forward their requirements to us.
Does your insurance cover end-of-tenancy cleaning disputes? No. Insurance covers accidental damage caused by our work. It doesn’t cover deposit deductions, because cleaning can’t repair wear or damage and no cleaner can guarantee an inventory result. We work to an agreed checklist based on the inventory or agent’s requirements.
What if I’m not happy with the clean, rather than something being damaged? That’s a separate matter from insurance. We finish each job with a check against the agreed tasks. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.
Do you leave keys with anyone else? No, not unless you’ve agreed it. Key handling is arranged with you in advance, including where keys are returned after the visit.
Can you provide risk assessments for a one-off commercial clean? Often, yes. Tell us what you need when you ask for a quote and we’ll confirm what we can prepare for the job.
