Sparkle clean in Enfield – show home finish for handover - Cleaning Enfield

Sparkle Clean in Enfield (EN)

The builders have gone, the snagging list is nearly done, and the place still looks dusty in the afternoon light. Our sparkle clean in Enfield is the final, detailed polish that gets a new build, refurb or extension ready for handover, a show home viewing or the day you move in. We cover homes, developments and small commercial units across EN. Send us a few photos and your handover date, and we’ll come back with a clear quote.

What a sparkle clean actually is (and what it isn’t)

A sparkle clean is the last pass, not the first. It comes after the heavy work: rubble out, paint splashes off, protective film peeled, skips gone. Our job at this stage is to remove the fine dust that keeps settling, polish every surface a buyer, client or tenant will touch or look at, and leave the property at show home standard.

If the site still has plaster lumps on the floor, tape on the windows and silicone smears on the tiles, you need a final builders clean first. We can do both, but they’re different jobs with different time and pricing. Booking a sparkle clean too early means paying for a polish that gets dusted over by the next trade through the door.

Why fine dust needs more than a quick vacuum

Plaster and sanding dust is lighter than household dust. It hangs in the air and comes down for a day or two after work stops, landing on sills, skirting tops, door frames and inside drawers. A domestic vacuum blows much of it straight back out. We use HEPA-filtered vacuums, work from the top of each room down, and finish with damp microfibre so the dust is lifted off rather than spread around.

What’s included in a sparkle clean

We agree a room-by-room checklist before we start. A typical post construction handover clean covers:

Throughout

  • High and low dusting: tops of door frames, architraves, skirting boards, picture rails, light fittings and switch plates
  • Sockets and switches wiped (power off where needed)
  • Radiators dusted, including between the fins where we can reach
  • Internal doors, handles and hinges wiped and polished
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped with a product suited to the finish

Glazing, frames and fixtures

  • Internal glass polished to a streak-free finish, including glazed doors and internal screens
  • Window frames, sills and runners vacuumed and wiped, so the tracks aren’t full of grit
  • Accessible external glass on the ground floor where agreed
  • Chrome, brushed steel and brass fittings polished, wiping with the grain on brushed finishes

Kitchens

  • Cupboards and drawers cleaned inside and out (they collect a surprising amount of dust)
  • Worktops, splashbacks and appliance fronts polished
  • Sink, tap and plughole brought back to a shine
  • Extractor hood exterior wiped

Bathrooms

  • Sanitaryware, taps and shower screens polished
  • Tiles and grout lines wiped down
  • Mirrors and cabinets cleaned inside and out
  • Extractor fan covers dusted

Extras, limits and when cleaning won’t fix it

Some tasks need separate agreement, either because they take specialist kit or because they sit outside a standard handover clean.

Quoted separately

  • External windows above ground floor, conservatory roofs and high-level glazing. Our window cleaning service handles these with the right equipment.
  • Carpet extraction after trades have walked plaster dust into new carpets
  • Heavy grout haze, cement residue or paint on natural stone, which may need specific products and more time
  • Large commercial units, show home suites or multiple plots on the same development

Not a cleaning job

  • Scratched glass, chipped tiles or marked worktops. We’ll flag what we find so it goes on your snagging list, but cleaning won’t hide damage.
  • Suspected asbestos, chemical spills or hazardous waste. These need a licensed contractor.
  • Damp patches or mould coming through new plaster. That’s a building issue to raise with your contractor before anything’s cleaned.

How a sparkle clean works

  1. Tell us about the property. Send photos, the number of rooms and your handover or viewing date. For larger or commercial jobs we may arrange a walkthrough.
  2. Agree the checklist and quote. We set out exactly what’s in scope and any extras, and agree the price before work starts.
  3. Sort access. Let us know about keys, site codes, lockboxes, parking and whether any trades will still be on site.
  4. We clean. We bring our own supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
  5. Final check. We walk the property against the agreed checklist before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.

What to have ready before we arrive

  • Trades finished, or at least no dusty work planned after us
  • Rubbish, offcuts and tools removed from the rooms we’re cleaning
  • Protective film on glass and appliances peeled off, unless you’d like us to do it (tell us when booking)
  • Water and electricity on
  • Any care guides for new worktops, flooring or sanitaryware

What changes the price of a sparkle clean

There’s no one-size price, because two “three-bed refurbs” can be very different jobs. The main factors are:

  • Size and layout: room count, number of bathrooms and how much glazing there is
  • Condition: a light final polish takes less time than a site that’s had a rushed builders clean
  • Task list: inside cupboards, ground-floor external windows, carpet work and high-level dusting
  • Specialist finishes: natural stone, unsealed timber and polished plaster need slower, more careful work
  • Access and timing: parking, stairs without a lift, and whether the clean has to fit a tight handover window

You’ll find more on how we put quotes together on our pricing page. For sparkle clean timing, give us as much notice as you can before a handover date. Short-notice slots depend on availability.

Working on new builds, refurbs and occupied homes

New builds and developments. We schedule around site managers and other trades. If a plot is being shown to buyers, we’ll work in a sensible order so the showroom finish isn’t undone by foot traffic.

Refurbs in lived-in homes. If you’re still living in part of the house, we’ll agree which rooms come first and keep doors closed so dust doesn’t travel back into cleaned areas. Tell us about pets so we can plan around them.

Keys and secure premises. Many Enfield jobs involve keys from an agent, a lockbox or a site office. We agree arrival times and key handling in advance, and we’ll lock up and return keys exactly as arranged.

Flooring and drying time. Freshly laid or lacquered timber may still be curing, so check the fitter’s guidance before booking. If we’re mopping hard floors, we’ll leave them to dry before anyone walks through.

Doing it properly on new finishes

New surfaces are often the most delicate, and they’re expensive to replace. A few things we always do:

  • Check the material first. Granite, quartz, marble, oak and laminate all need different products. Acidic cleaners etch marble and limestone, so we use pH-neutral products on stone.
  • Test patch where we’re unsure. Especially on painted surfaces that may not have fully cured, and on matt-finish kitchen doors that can polish up unevenly.
  • No abrasives on glass or sanitaryware. Grit trapped in a cloth or scourer scratches new glass and gloss finishes. We rinse cloths often and use a fresh one as soon as it picks up debris.
  • Separate cloths for kitchens and bathrooms. They’re colour-coded and never swapped between rooms.
  • Leave new silicone alone if it’s still curing. We’ll clean around it rather than risk lifting it.
  • Follow the product instructions. Eco-friendly products are available on request, and we check they suit each surface.

Why builders and homeowners book us for the last clean

It comes down to how the job’s organised. We agree the checklist before arriving, so nobody’s guessing what “done” means. Our cleaners are vetted and insured, and we bring the right kit for fine dust rather than relying on what’s in your cupboard. We also tell you what we find. If there’s a chipped tile or a scratched pane, you’ll hear about it before handover, not after.

What customers say

“Our extension had been finished a week and dust was still landing on everything. They did the whole ground floor, inside every kitchen cupboard, the bifold tracks, all of it. The glass actually looked clear for the first time.” Helen T., Bush Hill Park (sparkle clean after an extension)

“Booked them for a flat refurb before the new tenants moved in. Keys were with the neighbour downstairs and that all went fine. They pointed out a crack in the bath panel we’d missed, which the builder then sorted.” Daniel O., Ponders End (post-refurb sparkle clean)

“Two show flats, tight deadline. Good communication, sensible about working round the decorator finishing off the hallway.” Mark R., Enfield Town (show home standard cleaning)

Sparkle clean FAQs

How is a sparkle clean different from an after-builders clean?

An after-builders clean removes the heavy mess: debris, paint splashes, adhesive and protective film. A sparkle clean is the final detailed polish once that’s done. Some properties need both, booked a day or two apart so the dust can settle in between.

How long does a sparkle clean take?

It depends on size and condition. A one-bed flat in good order may take a few hours, while a large house with lots of glazing can take a full day or more with a team. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.

Can you remove fine dust for a handover inspection?

Yes. Fine dust removal is the core of the job. We use HEPA vacuums and damp microfibre, working top to bottom. If trades are still sanding or cutting nearby, dust will keep landing, so we’d always recommend booking us last.

Do you polish window frames and glazing?

Yes, inside. That includes frames, sills, runners and glazed doors. Ground-floor external glass can be added on request, and higher external windows are quoted separately.

Do you bring your own products and equipment?

Usually, yes. We bring everything needed unless we’ve agreed otherwise. If your developer or flooring fitter has specified certain products, let us know and we’ll use them.

Do you cover the whole area?

We provide sparkle cleans and other cleaning services across EN postcodes, from Enfield Town and Bush Hill Park to Enfield Lock and Hadley Wood. If you’re unsure, just ask.

Can you guarantee the property will pass the handover inspection?

No cleaner can guarantee that, because inspections also cover workmanship and finishes. What we can do is work to an agreed checklist, check our work before leaving, and flag any damage we spot so you can deal with it in time.
