Window cleaning in Enfield – streak-free glass and frames - Cleaning Enfield

Window Cleaning in Enfield (EN)

Grubby glass makes a freshly cleaned room look tired, and windows are usually the last job anyone gets round to. Our window cleaning in Enfield covers glass, frames, sills and tracks for flats, houses, rented homes and small business premises across EN. Interior work is our standard, and we clean external glass where it can be reached safely. Send us a few photos or give us a call, and we’ll agree what’s included and the price before we start.

What we clean on each window

A proper window clean covers the whole window, including the parts that collect dirt. On an agreed visit we’ll typically cover:

  • Glass: both sides of the pane where it’s reachable, including the outside face of tilt-and-turn windows that open fully inwards.
  • Frames: uPVC, painted timber and aluminium, wiped down to remove dust, cobwebs, fingerprints and the grey film that builds up near radiators.
  • Sills: inner sills cleared of grime, plant-pot rings and the water marks condensation leaves behind.
  • Tracks and runners: sliding patio door tracks, sash runners and the drainage slots that clog with grit and dead insects.
  • Handles, locks and hinges: wiped and dried, so they don’t feel sticky when you next open up.
  • Seals and corners: surface marks and early mould spots treated where the sealant is sound.

How we get a streak-free finish

Streaks usually come from dirty water, too much product or glass that dries before it’s finished. We clear the frames and tracks first so grit doesn’t get dragged across the glass. Then we wash the pane, take the water off with a squeegee or a clean microfibre, and finish the edges by hand.

We avoid working in strong direct sunlight where we can, because the glass dries too fast and leaves marks. On south-facing windows we’ll usually start on the shaded side of the house and come back to them.

Inside only, outside, or both?

Many customers book interior window cleaning in Enfield on its own, and that’s perfectly fine. It suits upper-floor flats, rented rooms, and homes where a separate window round already does the outside.

For external glass, we clean what can be reached safely from the ground or from inside. That includes ground-floor windows, patio and French doors, balcony glass, and tilt-and-turn windows on upper floors. We won’t lean out of windows or put a ladder somewhere unsafe. If your upper-floor glass needs high-level access, we’ll tell you at the quote stage. Where we can’t offer the right access ourselves, we’ll say so plainly.

Extras, and when cleaning isn’t the answer

Some jobs need agreeing separately, and some aren’t cleaning problems at all. We’ll be honest about which is which.

  • Misting between panes: if there’s condensation or fog inside a double-glazed unit, the seal has failed. A glazier needs to look at it, because no cleaning will reach it.
  • Black mould in sealant: we can treat surface growth. Staining that’s gone into the silicone usually needs resealing. If mould keeps coming back, it’s worth looking at ventilation or damp.
  • Scratches and etching: hard-water marks left for years can etch the glass. We can improve light marking but can’t polish out damage.
  • Paint, plaster or cement splashes: these need careful removal. We’ll test an inconspicuous area first and agree the approach with you before we start.
  • Flaking paint or soft timber frames: we clean these gently. We can’t repair them, and heavy scrubbing would make them worse.
  • Blinds, shutters, curtain tracks, skylights and conservatory roofs: these are quoted as extras, depending on access and condition.

Adding windows to a deep clean or move-out

Windows are one of the most common add-ons we’re asked for. Inventory reports often mention sills, frames and runners, and grubby glass is the first thing a viewer or new tenant notices.

You can add window cleaning to a deep clean of your home or to an end of tenancy clean. Tell us if your inventory or the agent’s checklist mentions windows, and we’ll build those points into the room-by-room list. Cleaning can’t fix damaged seals or cracked panes. We’ll mention anything like that we notice, so you can raise it before the check-out.

How a booking works

  1. Tell us about the windows. Give us the number of rooms, the property type, whether you want inside only or outside as well, and any sliding doors or awkward glass. Photos help a lot.
  2. We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll know exactly which windows, frames and tracks are included and what it costs before we arrive.
  3. We confirm access. We’ll agree the arrival time, key handling and parking, and whether anyone will be home.
  4. We clean. We bring our own cloths, squeegees, products and dust sheets for sills and floors.
  5. We do a final check. We go round against the agreed list before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, let us know promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.

What helps on the day: clear ornaments, plants and photo frames off sills. If you can, pull sofas or desks back a little from the glass. Leave window keys where we can find them, because locked windows are the most common reason a pane gets skipped.

What changes the price

Every quote is based on the actual job. The main factors are:

  • How many windows there are, their size, and whether you want inside, outside or both
  • The type of glass: small Georgian-style panes take longer than large single panes
  • Condition, such as years of grime in tracks, heavy condensation marks or building residue
  • Extras like blinds, mirrors or internal glazed doors
  • Access, including upper floors, balconies and parking
  • Whether it’s a one-off or a regular booking

See our pricing page for how we work out quotes. The price is agreed upfront, before any cleaning starts.

How often should windows be cleaned?

Most homes find that cleaning the inside every two to three months keeps glass looking clear. Homes with young children, dogs at nose height or heavy winter condensation often need it more often.

If you’re near a busy route through Enfield, such as the A10, traffic film builds up faster on outside glass and frames. Shops and offices usually want shopfronts and entrance glass done more often still, because fingerprints and street dust show up straight away. We’ll suggest a sensible frequency once we’ve seen the windows.

Working in homes and business premises

  • Occupied homes: we work room by room, so you can carry on around us. We put down dust sheets on carpets and keep wet cloths off soft furnishings.
  • Pets: let us know beforehand. Some dogs don’t love a squeegee, and we’ll keep doors and windows shut where needed so cats don’t escape.
  • Flats: tell us about entry codes, the lift and any building rules on balconies.
  • Keys: if you won’t be in, we’ll agree in advance where keys are left and how they’re returned.
  • Shops and offices: we can work before opening or after close where possible. Window displays and stock near the glass are moved only with your agreement.

Doing the job properly

  • We check frame materials first. Timber and aluminium don’t get the same products as uPVC.
  • Some modern glass has a self-cleaning coating, which certain products can damage. Tell us if you have it, and we’ll use suitable products.
  • Eco-friendly products are available on request. We check each one is suitable for the surface.
  • We keep separate cloths for windows, kitchens and bathrooms, so nothing greasy or contaminated goes near the glass.
  • We follow product instructions and never use abrasive pads on glass or seals.
  • We leave sills and tracks dry and close any windows we’ve opened. Locking up is agreed with you before we leave.

What customers say

“Booked inside only for my top-floor flat. The patio door track had years of grit in it and now it slides properly again. No smears, even with the low sun in the afternoon.” Hannah R., Enfield Lock

“We added windows to our move-out clean. The inventory mentioned marked sills last time, so I sent the agent’s list over and they worked through it. They also pointed out a misted unit in the bedroom, which I reported to the landlord myself.” Daniel O., Bush Hill Park

“Keys were left with my neighbour and everything was back in place when I got home. Small Georgian panes take ages and they didn’t rush them.” Margaret T., Hadley Wood

Window cleaning FAQs

Do you do inside window cleaning only? Yes. Many customers book interior glass, frames, sills and tracks only, especially in upper-floor flats or where someone else already does the outside.

Can you clean the outside of upper-floor windows? Sometimes. Tilt-and-turn and some sash windows let us reach the outside face safely from indoors. Anything that would need unsafe ladder work or leaning out is assessed at the quote stage, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.

Do you clean window tracks and frames as well as the glass? Yes, that’s part of a full window clean. Sliding door runners, sash channels and drainage slots are included when we’ve agreed them in the checklist.

Will you get rid of the mould around my window seals? Usually we can clear surface growth. Mould that has stained the silicone itself often needs resealing. If it keeps returning, ventilation is worth checking.

Can I add windows to a deep clean or end of tenancy clean? Yes. Tell us when you ask for a quote and we’ll add them to the agreed checklist and price.

Do I need to be home? No. Lots of customers in Enfield leave keys with us or a neighbour. We’ll agree arrangements and window key locations beforehand.

Do you bring your own equipment? Yes. We bring squeegees, cloths, products and dust sheets unless you’ve asked us to use your own products.
